Thrifty Thursday Brown Transfer-ware and an almost Tablescape….

I love the thrift stores….I found this set for four brown transfer-ware for 1/2 price – at  Ten Bucks ! They aren’t antique but, I loved the color and pattern!

011  Here is a close up  - You photo buffs out there – I have a question – how in the world do you photograph in the evening with all those shadows ??

030

023 Marshalls – teapot for $5.99 (purchased last spring)

024Pumpkin tureen – bought at the thrift store – I think it was five bucks and it says Victoria on the bottom – who is Victoria ? 052

064 Mikasa napkin rings/name place cards. I bought a set of 4 for two bucks on clearance at TJ Maxx last spring. They came with a wipeable marker to write names on the front. I think they go well with my pumpkin tureen.

That is as far as I got to a tablescape…I ran out of time…. Hope everyone has a terrific rest of the week !

Thanks for visiting my blog !

Hugs ~ Kammy

I love brown transferware! This is so pretty. I found a brown transferware/toile print plate at TJ Maxx last weekend, but they only had one, so I didn't get it. Nice find!

I love your dishes and tureen. I was in Goodwill today but saw nothing like those :( I'm watching a tureen on ebay right now, all of a sudden I want one (actually I want to collect old ones!).
For night time pics I light all the candles on the table and I use a tripod so my hands don't shake, then I set the camera to 'night mode', the one with the moon sign on it! This lets the shutter stay open longer and so long as the camera is still, the pics don't come out blurry. You can also light small lamps around the room if it's really dark.

That does it! I have got to move to a place with better thrift stores!!! This is beautiful. If you find out about the photography, let me know. I have the same problem! All I get with candles is a glare :)...no warm glow :)

Hey Girlfriend...

Popping over to say hello and see how you're doing! Are you getting any of that fluffy white stuff up at your place? We got a little this morning and then it just turned drizzly for the rest of the day but brrrr...it's cold!

Girl, I just can't believe that you had the good fortune to find this lovely set of brown transferware dishes...I do believe that someone is smilin' down upon you!!! They're gorgeous and all for just $10??? Awesome treasure find, my friend! Love the white pumpkin tureen too...hmmm...wondering if it's the same Victoria that puts out the magazine? I know that they have pretty things like that in there!

My friend, your photos are fabulous...seriously!!! I don't know if it is possible to shoot photos at night without getting some shadows...but I love that look!!! I think it offers an ambiance that daylight photography lacks! I have a setting on my camera for taking photos in low-light...reducing the blurr (without the flash). It helps some! But...again, I love your photos and think they are fabulous!!! I think they look like they just stepped off of a page of a design magazine!!! Thank you for sharing your new treasure finds...I'm so happy for you, Darlin!

Love ya,
Chari

Once again you find the neatest things at your local thrift store. Now when I see a thrift store I pull in thinking of you:) I am starting to find little pieces of goodies but the fact is I think I need to go more often and I just do not have the time. I love your dishes and the only Victoria I know is in the Mall:)

I love how dark the brown is on the dishes. Generally, you find the brown to be a bit more washed out on dishes. You got a great deal.

Hi Kammi
I really love the brown transfer ware too! Its incredible and what an awesome deal you got!
As for photos at night... when you are doing a tablescape... you want some of the shadows... I too use a tripod and I also light lots of candles then I use a spot light... Its really my desk light...That's right, I put it in various places...play around with it... I know it looks harsh at first but once you snap the photo then take a look... I don't use the flash. You gotta play with it... sometimes you need to touch up the photos too... But my best advice is tripod and no flash... have fun!

Hi Kammy,
It's me again, I want to add:
1)I love the Krylon bronze paint that you use, I think I will switch to that next time a project comes up.
2)I live very near Big Basin where you used to vacation. But I was born in Colorado. So it appears we have reversed our paths..!!
