I forgot that I got this last year……

002

I almost forgot that I bought this Ice Cream Freezer at the thrift store last fall for twenty bucks.

Brand new ! It has the hand crank and an electric motor…..

I googled the price on my smart phone while at the store (do you ever do this ?) to find the retail price and they are at least sixty bucks.

Do you have a great easy recipe to share ? Other then the freeze aisle at the grocery store ??

Hugs ~ Kammy

Hubby makes GREAT homemade ice cream but I don't know his recipe. He seems to change it a bit every time he makes it anyway. We rarely make it though so I eat Breyers Vanilla ice cream with the little bean flakes in it. With chocolate syrup and peanut butter spooned on top of course.

Someone gave out a wonderful recipe last week for freezer ice cream, and it "might" have been Cathy of Wives with Knives. I think I have her blog addy on my sidebar. But it was one of my cooking friends.

XO,

Sheila :-)

I have two!

Orange sherbet: one can Eagle Brand and one liter orange soda. That's all there is to it. You can even use diet soda and low fat Eagle Brand without affecting the taste.

Vanilla: Mix together 4 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 pint whipping cream, and 2 tbsp vanilla. Pour into ice cream maker and add 2 cans Eagle Brand milk. Stir well. Add whole milk to fill line and stir again. This recipe came with the first ice cream freezer we bought many moons ago when we were first married. We still use it every summer! (The recipe, not the freezer--that's been replaced several times over!)

Hi Kammy! Nothing I love better than good ole homemade ice cream. I have a great recipe I'll share with you. I think it makes a gallon so if your freezer is larger you'll have to adjust. Let me know if you like it.

Home made Ice Cream

1 cup sugar
5 eggs
Beat the sugar and eggs with your mixer until it's light and fluffy.
Then add:
1 can Eagle Brand Condensed Milk
1 can of canned milk
(Pet brand or so)
1 Tbs of vanilla
pinch of salt

Pour all of this into your container and fill with milk until the container is 2/3 full. I always you whole milk, because 2% just doesn't taste as good.

Enjoy!

Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Hello Kammy~
I love the vintage look of your ice creamer, the modern convience of operating is a plus.
One of the most unique low card ice cream recipe option is...taking any favored protein shake powder as the flavoring in making the ice cream. My faves are Suzanne Sommers Cappuccino caramel (protein shake powder) and chocolate.
Although my all time favorites are pure vanilla mixed with any fresh fruits. Asian pear is one you won't find in the freezer isle of any grocery store. I hope to post on it when we harvest our Asian pears.

Sweet wishes,
Sara

Actually, just a plain vanilla recipe would be great, then you could add all sorts of things...like fresh peaches..strawberries...chopped hunks of chocolate...anything.
I was just thinking the other day how I would love to have one of those. Believe me, if I ever come across on at a garage sale or thrift shop..home it comes? :)
It looks like a lovely one. Is it really wood or just a facsimile??
Whatever the case, it's wonderful!

About 15 years ago our neighbors divorced and the wife sold us an old ice cream maker at her yard sale. Turned out is was the husband's and he wanted it back. My husband really wanted it and wouldn't give or sell it back to the guy. I felt terrible for him. In all those years we have never used it!
