Today’s Thrifty Treasure – Plates Hung,Pure Plastic and other things..

I am participating in Today's Thrifty Treasures – Please see the link at the bottom of this post. These Bloggers will get you motivated on great buys on used stuff and sometimes new stuff – If you are a shopaholic – beware !

I would first like to say that I appreciated Rhoda’s tutorial on plate hanging you can find it here:

http://southernhospitalityblog.com/hanging-plates/

I had purchased plates and really wanted to try this and after getting the low down from Rhoda – I was hanging a way !

Thanks Rhoda !

045

I can include everything in this picture as a Thrifty Find…

The plates I found at the Thrift store for a buck a piece.

The creamer as 1/2 price for a buck at the GW.

The little jar was a buck at the thrift store.

The little holder thing was a buck and the Good Ol Dollar Store.

The shelf was $2.99 at the GW and very homely looking see below:

007 Pure Plastic ! Good Golly !  Remember my mirror below is Pure Plastic too  (it was in an earlier post for $5.00 at the ARC Thrift Store)

083

See how nice they all look together ? I am in Luv…..

 Brassy and Not So Sassy

002

$2,99 at the GW – flowers and all –the flowers were so gross and dirty !

053

I painted the bird cage with the Rustoleum Hammered Bronze. I just for display put it on another one of my GW finds….remember it was gaudy gold ??065

I didn’t have to do a thing to this ?? What is it a plant container ?? It is huge and so perfect. It is heavy and the bottom has the original price of $100 bucks and a sale price of $40.00 and I got it for $6 bucks – SCORE !!!

Hugs , Kammy

I'm a big fan of those plastic mirrors lately! I've got two of them hanging on my porch, and you can't tell they're gaudy plastic. Love the birdcage painted with the Hammered Bronze too. I passed up 3 cages last week. I was so proud of my restraint, and now you're making me wish I had bought them all!

You got some more great deals going on there, girl! And geeez, I think your thrift store prices are much more reasonable than where I live. Since I have a "thing" for pink floral plates, they're my favorite, although the birdcage is pretty darn cute too! :)

Thanks for the comments!
and is 'hammered bronze' close to Oil Rubbed Bronze?
(I started repainting some fixutures in my house, ran out of ORBronze and now nobody sells it in town! Grrr)
and I say paint the planter hammered bronze too! (does it make it look hammered?)

Great thrift-store finds, Kammy!

Thanks for dropping by DesignTies and commenting on my recent post about painting my nesting tables :-) It's so funny... I'd been thinking about this project for a while, but one of the things that finally got me on to the task was recently reading about the transformation of your pine-to-black armoire! I would have included it as one of my inspiration pics ~ in fact, I thought about it but I forgot (bad me!!) where you were!!

And my new Mouse? Love it!! But I found that my hand and arm tingled for a little while after I turned it off. HaHa!!

Again... thanks for dropping by!

Hey Kammy
I was just checking in at Our Suburban Cottage and she had asked people to put their 2 cents in on Oil Rubbed paint. Di you use the Krylon Brushed Metallic or the American Accents Metallic? You might go over and put your 2 cents in since you have used yours on the light that came out so amazing. The bird cage looks nice also.

I love your pure plastic. I actually have sold alot of those on Ebay. Pink, White, Black even French Grey. Some of the stuff that I have is Syroco. I love the way that you put everything together. Great job! Leslie

I would love to see some of your painting. I have to be in the right mood to paint or it just doesn't look good.
Crazy that Micheal's doesn't carry the books any more. I end up buying mine on ebay or in the independent smaller art/painting stores. I have boxes of them.
