This is just a fun thing with no story – boring…keep reading my stuff will get a little funner (I don’t think funner is a word….LOL) I purchased this little wall shelf a few years ago. It was white (sorry forgot the before picture) and I love bead board. I didn’t love the white. I had a left over scrolly thing used from my magazine project.
Ta Da ! Easy and now I truely love it ! Tip- use wood glue for scrolly things not hot glue – hot glue will not hold after it dries –
Along comes Tweedledum and Tweedledee: (from Alice and Wonderland)
I purchased Tweedledum and Tweedledee at a garage sale for a buck a piece. The original price tags show $12.99. I know the lady was thinking “Yeah , I am getting rid of these horrid twins” While I was thinking “ I am SO going to re-vamp these litlle dudes and they are going to learn to be on their best behavior !” I had to be careful not to say a word, as she may have not sold them to me…LOL !
Here the twins are getting a coat of paint…I taped up the centers as I planned on painting a lighter color and didn’t want to fight over the black paint..
The monograms are temporary – I want a nice scroll - but, you get the idea. I also want some topiary to plant inside…maybe.
I thought of this ol kiddy song seeing this poor table on its last leg..
- Oh, the old
gray marebrown table , she ain't what she used to be, - Ain't what she used to be, ain't what she used to be.
- The old
gray marebrown table, she ain't what she used to be, - Many long years ago.
A trip to Home Depot to purchase a dowel to plug up the legs to get her to stand up again was in order. Thanks to the hubby for sanding them down (they had to be at an angel to fit). Hubbies can be handy at times. I love my hubby.
Sad but, true…this table has seen better days….I used to have a complete set – coffee table and end tables too. As they got worn out I donated them – I am kicking my self now. As you can see from the top , it is in poor condition. I started to sand and almost forgot to take a picture of the top. U.G.L.Y. U.G.L.Y. U.G.L.Y.
See how pretty it is transformed with some paint ! You can still see the grain in the wood…
Still doing some drying . Got super lucky with a warm rainless day !
I captured this beauty at the thrift store. I am always looking at them for new but, never like the price or the finish…. I thought of this line….didn’t even know it was from Skakespeare until I GOOGLED it….I LOVE GOOGLE – it makes me seem smart, LOL !
O hell! what have we here?
A carrion Death, within whose empty eye
There is a written scroll! I'll read the writing.
All that glitters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life hath sold
But my outside to behold:
Gilded tombs do worms enfold.
Had you been as wise as bold,
Young in limbs, in judgment old,
Your answer had not been inscroll'd:
Fare you well; your suit is cold.
She is a Black beauty now. All that glitters is not gold but, could be something really great ! Don’t cha love it ? It is super heavy and has great detail.
