My new love affair with Tom……..

070 I love Tom – he is a Department 56 employee and I met him at the thrift store. Do you see how MANLY he is – and he packs HEAT ! That is a BIG GUN.. I saw him the first time for $14.99 and I would not spend that type of money – no Siree Bob or should I say No Way Tom! I went back a couple of weeks later and I found him again…I think he was smitten with me, or me smitten with him….he was half price for $7.50 and I still didn’t want to spend that much…..but he was sooooo hunky cute.  Wait till you see how talented he is….it is at the end of this post….

139

First we start out with these Pfaltzgraff dishes (they are just like Marty’s - at A Stroll Thru Life – in fact I purely blamed it all on Marty when I spotted these at the thrift store  - and had to get them..earlier this year)I have a place setting for 12.  I did not display all the dishes or the accessories that I have collected the last few months. This set screams Fall to me. Question: Do your dishes, animals and other things you love – talk to you ?

058

The flatware came from the thrift. I made the little name setting tags.

090

The candle holder I used to lift the coffee pot , I found at the thrift store yesterday for $1.99 and I did not paint it….

127

The glasses are a neat greeny teal color and I was thrilled when I saw that they matched my placemats (which are Longaberger and I have owned for years)

086

I love to stack mugs – I found these at the thrift store , just this weekend for a buck a piece.

106

108

111

One dollar goblets from the thrift store…I have a set of four.

112

119

050

Napkins from Penney's , I got them in the spring for two bucks for 4. Tablecloth is a Ralph Loren , I have owned for a couple of years.

Sorry , I got a little carried away with the pictures as I found the RIGHT LIGHT for picture taking -daylight, Yeah !

BEWARE !!!!!!

of the next picture – it is a bit indecent..remember Hunky Tom  well……………….

.

.

.  I warned you…….

.

. Please don’t let young children see this next picture…..

.

. Really are you just that curious ????

.

.

134

HE’S A…..

……………….

FLASHER !!!!!

Hugs ~ Kammy

Oh Kammy, I love Tom too, he is just wonderful and I am so glad you got him. Now as for the Pfaltzgraph, you know that I love it the most of all. What a thrill that you've collected so many pieces. They did make some wonderful accessories for these dishes and they wear like iron. I know you will love yours as much as I love mine. Hugs, Marty

heeheehee!

I went to find more of our favorite paint and wouldn't you know it. Had every color but our bronze. I wondered who else must be reading your blog around these parts. I went back this weekend and there was only two cans on the shelf so I got both.

Ahhhhhhhhh! Was I suppose to be resting???? Ahhhhhhhh! I am! I'm really being good. I left work early; one full hour today. In 9 years I can't remember taking off work except when I had spinal surgery and then I was flat on my back.

I got a new kitchen table cloth too. It's a pretty red and I should probably save it for Thanksgiving. I notice it's already getting dirty. I need to whip this place in shape before gobble gobble day. Well ... maybe I'll just leave it. :-)

Oh, Kammy! First let me tell you your photos are gorgeous! You've become quite a photographer! ;)
Oh, that Tom is one manly guy! I can tell he is not going to be any one's Thanksgiving dinner! I love Tom.
Honey, you're the one who's found the treasures. Your dishes are so wonderful. You've set such a beautiful table with them. Love your flatware. Oh, I just love them all!
Now you had better watch that Tom, he's a stinker, I can tell.
Be a sweetie,

Okay I don't for one minute believe that you didn't paint it. Really? Huh. I wouldn't have believed it.
I would think half price was pretty good. I guess I give in too easily.

You have so impressed me with your finds. I too am collecting Pfaltzgraff dishes, but I am not as lucky as you are. Maybe I have to keep my eyes peeled. I get a chuckle out of your Tom. A great addition. Love his boots!

PS: I made the chalk board that you did from the previous post. I found an oval framed picture for $1 at Goodwill. Paid more for the paint, but I painted my frame white. Looks awesome. Thanks for great ideas!

Cute post! Love the way you combine all your finds. Daylight does seem the best for photographs. My camera has very limited success with artificial light and I have yet to find a photographer's light at the thrift store but maybe the thrifting fairies will whisper in my ear...

Beverly/My Sew Sweet Studio said...

Be still my heart. I too am in love with your Tom. I cannot believe you found him at at thrift store.
Your tablescape just made my heart pitter-patter. Those dishes were the first dishes I collected after I got married. I had 12 place settings, glasses and every accessory made to match. After I stopped using them for everyday, I used them for Thanksgiving and my fall display for years...then a few years ago got a chance to sell them. Now after seeing your table, I'm wishing I had them.
I am going to be on the hunt for one of those turkeys.

Cute a flasher. ;-) I love all the LAYERS you added to this table!!!! And I spy a beautifully decorated hutch in the background too. Cute post, thrifty finds ...I'm lovin' it.

Kammy, Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd come visiting and see tom turkey porn! LOL
Love the Pfaltzgraph dishes. They are a classic. Those glasses look like the Arby's goblets from the late 80's. They could be purchased when you bought a certain food item from their menu. I have 12 of them. I also have 12 of their Christmas tumblers. Both were under a dollar apiece, can't remember which one was the more expensive one. Every time Mr. Sullivan went to lunch there, he bought one. He even had his employees picking them up for me!

Lovely table! LOVE that tiered plate. Cass
PS Soapstone comes in basically 4 forms -- dark green with lots of veins, or little veining, and black with lots of veins or little veining. We chose black with little veining -- like a lab table, hahaha.
