My hubby likes pine – I do not. This big hunk of pine is knot something I Pine for – hardy, har ,har….I crack myself up…..
My hubby helped with his bondo skills – the legs had huge broken pieces missing. My hubby applied bondo, let it dry and sanded it down to perfection ! Note- bondo is used on cars – the wood filler just was too slow and my hubby didn’t like it…so he got out his bondo….love it – he too can be creative.
I unscrewed all the hinges and knobs…I used the power screwdriver – so much faster. Then my hubby helped mask it up. He does a way better job than me.
We used Behr glossy black latex paint. My hubby loaded up his paint gun – the kind you use for cars and then taught me how to spray it on ! It was slick and there ain’t no runs on this baby. I have some other large pieces and my hubby said we can do the same to them , Yeah !
Here it is with my little orphan annie chair…I threw some stuff on top to make it a little cozy. I am working on a picture to go above the chair – also from the thrift store, so keep posted ! All the things on top of the cabinet are my thrift store finds too !
I bought the cabinet from Craigslist about a year ago for seventy five bucks. I use it to hold all my photo albums.
Another picture – it is so loverly, I do heart it a bunch !
Getting Framed X five
I bought five 8 1/2 x 11 frames at $1.99 each at various times from the thrift store – some wood, some metal and some fake fake fake !
Got out my hoslter and guns (spray paint guns that is…..)
used my Cricut in 3 different fonts at 5 inches each in black…
applied modge podge – note that in this picture they are a little wet and I am working on the drat bubbles (don’t look closely at the A…pleeze)
Twirler for $ 1.99
I found this twirler and I knew my daughter Megan would love it.
I didn’t even open it…I just had a feeling….
It is the prettiest green. I decided to have a little mini photo shoot…the twirler is a great background. Megan will be a freshman in high school this year. We went this morning and had her hair highlighted for the first time, as a treat ! Great time to take some pics !
I took a whole bunch of photos – we had fun. I am lovin my new camera. For those who ask , it is a Canon Rebel T1i. Still learning and having a blast.
I have many more projects coming up …..so keep tuned !

Great job on the cabinet! I love to use Bondo instead of wood filler. It works so much more quickly and is more durable.
I did not know you could use a spray gun to paint furniture. It look great. Much better than the pine.
Oh I love the armoire. It turned out just gorgeous in black. So pretty and the frames are so lovely. Most of all I love the green twirller and the darling pictures of your daughter. Sooooo cute. Hugs, Marty
The armoire looks great! I wish I had used a gun on all my deck furniture instead of cans! You've done it now--the highlight! Speaking as one who just got my daughter off the salon payroll, I can tell you that you'll be paying for these visits for the next 7 years at least :) She's a cutie and first year of high school is important!! ps. The mirror is picture is very artsy :)!
That cabinet is fabulous! I love black furnature. I have an old desk-like piece that I have to redo and have been thinking about that can of black paint I have in the shop. Your daughter is pretty!!
You are doing a great job with that new camera! The photos are wonderful!!
Amy
Perfect end result on the armoire, Kammy. Love it! Your daugher's adorable, pretty highlights!..Christine
Oh man!!! I love that big cupboard painted black! I am the same way about oak! I had a shop back when everything was oak. All the people wanted were antiques made of oak! I got so tired of it. I love painted furniture and primitives now! Great job. Wish I had one of those guns!!!
Great job on the armoire. (And I HEART the picture you took w/ the mirrow... so chic!) The frames are super adorable... as is your daughter. Great hair! ;)
~Amy
Your daughter is adorable and her hair looks so cute! I was so excited to see your "pine 4 U NOT" make over too! Even hubby looked over my shoulder as I scrolled down your post! We loved it!
Have a lovely Sunday!
~Really Rainey~
The armoire turned out fabulous. My hubby also uses bondo to fix things around the house. Works great. And he has a spray gun as well. He painted my kitchen table & chairs with it. I too have a pine armoire in our bedroom that needs to be painted black. But it seems the wind has blown here everyday for the past year. Makes it hard to spray paint outside (our garage is too full). The "Megan" sign made out of the frames is great. And Megan is just too cute with her twirly.
Kammy, You always do such a great job with the paint. It looks wonderful in your home, even though I had to wince a little 'cause I love pine! LOL! The frames turned out great too, what a fun project. My daughter also starts high school this year. She is excited one day and anxious the next! Best wishes to Megan.
Dawn
Great job Kammy, I've never heard of bondo before. So, it's always nice to pick up some new tips. Love your commentary, you crack me up! Everything looks great. . .
Kammy
I love the redo of the pine armoire. And your crazy, knotty talk cracked me up!
*The brass sconces bothered me a little bit too. With my lottery winnings I could order a custom finish on those babies. Ha! I love this game!
Rhonda
I love what you did with the cabinet! My husband helps me with so many repairs. There's a landscape adhesive that he's used recently on a concrete sculpture repair that he did for me!
I saw a picture frame among yours that I have. I like what you did with them, am getting great ideas on what to do with mine.
I want a camera like yours!
Your comments on today's post just cracked me up! I needed a laugh like that. And your work is outstanding! Thanks for sharing.
I really like the armoire. I have a cabinet I want to paint black. Great deal on the frames - like what you did with them. Pretty daughter.
Glenda

WOW! What a difference. It turned out beautifully,Kammy!
Wonderful photos of your beautiful daughter. I love that green as a backdrop!
Hey Girlfriend...
Girl, this post has opened up all kinds of possibilities for me!!! You see...my honey is more of a car man than a wood crafting guy and he has all the bondo I would ever need and a spray gun too!!! I just might be able to get him to help out with some of my furniture projects if he can use the bondo and spray gun!!! Hehe!!! Seriously!!! I didn't know that you could use bondo on wood...WOW...you've got my lil' wheels a turnin' now, Darlin'!
Your pine hutch makeover turned out sooooo beautifully!!! I just love it's new black dress! Ooooh, and love, love, LOVE the pretty vignette that you made for the top of it! Simply gorgeous, Girlfriend!!!
What a grand idea...using the old mis-matched frames to do your daughter's name! I just love that idea...it's too cute!!! Of course, I've been following all of your different craft projects...your daughter's room must be getting quite the makeover!!! By the way...your Megan is such a beautiful young woman!!! I loved all the special photos with that pretty green umbrella!!! She should be a model...she has such a beautiful smile!!!
Well Darlin', Congratulations on all of your projects...such success stories!!! Love em' all!!!
Have a super Sunday!
Love ya,
Chari
Ooops...just lil' ol' me again!
Just realized that while I was writing the last comment that I called your armoire a hutch...so sorry! I meant armoire!!!
Hehe!
Chari
Wonderful job on the cabinet, and your daughter is a sweetheart.
FlowerLady
What a handy hubby you have. I love this piece painted black! Looks like you had a lot of fun redoing your frames in lots of wild colors. Good for you!
You need to do this for a living, girl! You love to fix things up, and you're so ultra good at it. That cabinet is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!
Brenda
Your "new" black cabinet is BEAUTIFUL! Wonderful job and and I love the way you accessorized on top!
That cabinet looks fabulous!!!! I LOVE how it looks in the corner with your little chair by it. Your daughter looks so cute with her new hilights!!
Kammy...you have a great eye for photography. I love how you took a pic in the mirror of the cabinet. And the cabinet looks FAB!! I love those frames too. So fun a kids room. I was lucky enought to find those parasols marked down to $1.60 at Hobby Lobby 3 years ago. I bought some for my brides to use when they do their bridal sessions. Gotta love them. Have a great week!
Hi,
Your cabinet came out great! Such a clever idea for the frames too!
Debbie :)
WOW! The cabinet is looking so much better since you decided knot to go with the pine (hehehe). Love the black! The frames project is excellent, and your daughter is such a cutie! Thanks for stopping by. :)
That cabinet is just fabulous in black!! Love it! Great post Kammy!
I love the black armoire. Just wondering and needing some thoughts from others.I am in the process of trying to decide whether to paint some bedroom furniture. I'm not sure I am ready to paint the bed but the small bookcase and night stand need some paint terribly. The wood is just too ugly to leave natural. Would black or white go better with oak? Or is this a bad idea all together? Or should I think about totally different colors altogether? Thanks for any ideas you might have to offer me.
Kammy-that cabinet is stunning NOW! And you "threw" things up top, wish I could do that and have the same fantastic results. The highlights look
good and just be prepared to have to MAINTAIN them for years to come. I loved your post, as usual.
Have a great week...
Kammy, I love the redo on the armoire! Even more, I loved seeing Little Orphan Annie again. I'll trade you her for the bee flatware! LOL!
Your daughter is a beauty! You will have to beat the boys away soon.
Wow. The armoire is stunning in black - I love it! And your frames and scrapbook paper - so cute! I'm addicted to pretty paper!
Great pics of your daughter too! What a great post! All kinds of prettiness!
Thanks for sharing!
Roeshel :)
Love, love, love the cabinet redo! I am a sucker for black primitive furniture. Do you rent out your husband? I have painted a few pieces myself and it's no picnic.
Your daughter is adorable!
Love the black cabinet! And your husband is right bondo does work better to fill wood. My Dad used to use it and so do I!
love it ALL... cabinet is perfect. frames are adorable. so cute!
the cabinet turned out great! Looks so elegant.
We just painted our oak armoire black and I love it! Yours looks fantastic.
Cabinet came out fabulous in black! Great a job!
Tina
Kammy - how great to have a handy Husband... and the picture frame name for your daughter was waaaaay too cute. Love your work!
I love the paint job. It turned out beautiful.
Thanks also for telling what kind of paint you used. I'm getting ready to tackle a similar project, and now I know what paint to look for. :)
What a great job you did for me!!
I will be over mid week to pick it up :) I am sure you would mind taking payments would you lol
Simply cool job.
TTFN~~Claudia ♥
Hi Kammy,
For having a small home in the country, you are living large with your decorating skills! I am so impressed and inspired, as always! Your daughter is a cutie! I love the armoire and the picture frames. How exactly did you make the letters? I'm also in need of a new camera, mine got lost (maybe even stolen) Yikes! Is yours easy to use? Your pictures look awesome!
The cabinet looks astoundingly new. I love it!
And what a pretty and fabulously LUCKY little girl Megan is to have such a creative mama!
Beautiful job on everything. Don't you just love getting into your husbands tools, it's so much fun.
Sandy
husbands have great skills sometimes, don't they? I love your big cabinet and the frame across the room to match - very cool photography you did.
I just switched around our 3 extra bedrooms - you should see the mess - but I love your 5 frames with your daughters name and may just borrow your idea to spell
"create" in our new craft room.
Kammy!
I had a pine cabinet just like that one--I gave it away about four years ago because I just couldn't imagine ever wanting to use it again. Oh, how I wish I had thought of painting it black! It looks awesome! And what a great use of those frames--Megan must love those. She obviously loves her parasol, and the green makes a great backdrop for those photos. Isn't she a cutie?!
Could you now come here and help me get projects done? I'm so inspired by the way you make things happen!
Blessings,
Richella
Kammy, great finds and transformations! That armoire looks amazing! I would really like to have a paint gun. I also love what you did with the frames.

what is it about men & pine? My hubby was reluctant to say the least for me to paint our armoire-but at least they gave us their blessing!
Yours turned out great! And I love the vignette above it, too...I'm still trying to figure out what to stick up there!

I want a guy that knows auto body! I would steal his sprayer and taping skills too. Bondo is a genius touch.
Instead I get a grocery manager....need to know what is in season, ripe or the correct cut of meat for that dish? He is your man.
Those shots of your daughter are keepers:)
Beautiful end-result on the cabinet--love that 'twirler' also!
The cabinet turned out great, and I love what you did with all of those frames! Thanks for the heads-up on the camera you are using. We want to buy one for our anniversary, but we can't decide which kind to get. Oh, and your daughter is gorgeous!
OK I haven't visited in a while but can I just say YOU ARE INSANELY GIFTED! Do you resell what you revamp or just keep all your treasures? How do you use them in the room for decorating?
Your cabinet turned out fantastic! I LOVE it!! Don't you just love smart husbands? LOL. Great photoshoot with your daughter, nice memories you've created.
Hugs, Marcia

I am starting a NEW Mr. Linky party. It will begin on Aug 10th so everyone will have a week and a half to think about their first post. I have a poll up for votes on which button should be the new button. The "party" is called The Knock Off Knock Out-where THRIFTY meets creative sensation. Go over and learn more about the new weekly event and I would appreciate if you would cast your vote and HELP pick the new button design and its the last week for the July GIVE-A-Way, if you would like to be a part of that event..
